Ghost World

Daniel Clowes’ comics creation receives an A-Plus film adaptation through the directorial filter of Terry Zwigoff. The show has more going for it than the bleak alienation of disaffected quasi- gen-Xers — the script offers a depth of character revealing the insecure, hopes and fears behind all the insulting attitudes and behaviors. It’s caustic, funny and also strongly affecting.

Vidya Balans Begum Jaan is set in Punjab

Vidya Balans Begum Jaan is set in Punjab
Srijit Mukherjee's Bangla epic Rajkahini which swept the box office and all the critical acclaim last year, is going to Punjab. And Vidya Balan is taking it there. Mukherjee who wrote and directed Rajkahini is now all set to remake the film in Hindi for producers Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt. The film would be made with an entirely new cast, with Vidya Balan replacing Rituparno Ghosh in the central part of brothel's Madame. All the other 11 sex workers would also be played by actresses who do not feature in the Bangla version. And there is a very good reason for this. Explains Srijit Mukherjee, "We are re-locating the plot of Rajkahini, titled Begum Jaan in Hindi, to the Punjab border. Rajkahini was located at the Bengal border where the after-effects of Partition where felt much less strongly than in Punjab. We're taking the story to a new level, and

Ajay Devgn's prediction comes true; Sultan & Raees all set to clash on festive period

With the news of Salman Khan's Sultan clashing with Shah Rukh Khan's Raees in Eid 2016, it seems Ajay Devgan's prediction in 2014 was bang on! In an interaction with the media for Action Jackson, Ajay had said that in a year or so, two big films will release during festivals.

"If everybody is booked, it does not matter. The situation now is that everybody wants to release their films during festivals because the business in festivals is really good. So by next year or next to next year, two films will release during festivals. Nobody will be able to book during festivals," said Ajay.

When he was asked if the monopoly of Khans booking festivals dates is good for the industry, Ajay's reply was, "The monopoly is not fair and it will break. It's just not right that you decide and say that you have booked a particular date.

Deepika Padukone & Sunny Leone to compete with each other

We have seen superstars taking on each other at the Box-office (for example: Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ajay Devgn's Son Of Sardaar or Shah Rukh Khan's Don - The Chase Begins Again versus Salman Khan's Jaan-E-mann), but now the two hotties are set to clash!

This May 8th, you will see Deepika Padukone and Sunny Leone heading for a competition with each other at the Bo, as their respective films Piku and Kuch Kuch Locha are releasing on the same day. And trade is also quite upbeat about both the films.

Piku (which stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan) is a comedy-drama film with a plotline that seems to focus on father- daughter relationship. On the other hand, Kuch Kuch Locha Hai (starring Ram Kapoor, Sunny Leone and Evelyn Sharma) is a comic outing about a married man and his desires.

Film Review: ‘Boss’

Film Review: ‘Boss’
The deafening Bollywood action comedy “Boss,” directed in broad, heavy strokes by Anthony D’Souza (“Blue”), is a relentless hard-sell star vehicle, a two-and-half-hour string of sledgehammer fighting and dancing sequences. In the end, it is little more than an extended high-energy commercial for the mugging wonderfulness of its leading man, veteran scenery-chewing megastar Akshay Kumar.

Nominally a remake of the 2010 Malayalam film “Pokkiri Raja,” with action scenes modeled on the post-”Matrix” slow-motion violence of head-banging South Indian hero films (a trend that began with Aamir Khan’s “Ghajini” in 2008), “Boss” also harks back pointedly to the grab-bag “masala” formulas that dominated Bollywood cinema in the 1970s and ’80s. In spite of its relentless, repetitive overstatement, the pic (which opened Oct. 16 to robust business on more than 3,000 Indian screens, as well as 100 North American locations) will likely be embraced as filling comfort food by nostalgic Indian moviegoers as well

The Jhalak family went out of their way last weekend by giving out some amazing filmy performances, and now it was time to get all dramatic! The challenge for the week being Nautanki, the contestants decided to make sure they disguise themselves in such a way that the stage is set and re-set on fire after every act!

Drama hit the stage with an Afro act performed by Drashti and Salman, dressed up as birds. Amazing postures, such perfect disguise and great choreography made their act very eye catching. Knowing this couple’s improvement graph so far, their performance was appreciated and they scored 30 on 30. Following them were Karanvir and Sneha, with a Laavni act. Karanvir turned ‘Kavya’ took breaths away with a hot booty shake and really great Lavni moves. Finally moving on from his ‘24’ fixation, Karanvir broke his own record as the duo scored 27 on 30.

Akshay Ajay Farhans trailers with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
That Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Yjhd) is one of the most anticipated films of the year is by now no secret. Understandably there was a huge clamour among producers to get trailers attached to this prized release, as this would ensure optimum visibility for the trailers.

Surprisingly, the trailer of Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express which is produced by Karan Johar's friend Shah Rukh Khan, and also stars Srk has not found a place with Yjhd.

We can now reveal that the trailer which has been selected to be attached with Yjhd is Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again, the sequel to the successful 2010 drama directed by Milan Luthria which stars Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan.

Shockingly, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again releases on the same Friday (August 8) as Chennai Express.

To many in the entertainment industry, it's surprising that a film produced

Speaking about the effect on the films, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said: "Whenever two big films come together, they hurt the other's business in some way. Yash Chopra announces retirement Jab Tak Hain Jaan to be his last

I have always lived according to what my heart tells me. I won't make any film after Jab Tak Hai Jaan. I want to do other things now. Launch new people. Bollywood Catch Up: Heroine, Ek Tha Tiger, Joker, Son of Sardaar

Quite a few new trailers and news coming from the turmeric scented Tinseltown, so I thought it would be a great time for a catch up!

Here are some of the recent trailers and posters comin’ at ya!

Joker Trailer and Poster:

First thing first, I have already gotten a ton of shit on the internet for calling the release of director Shirish Kunder’s previous movie Jaan-E-Mann one of the biggest tragedies in Bollywood but I stand by my word. The completely senseless decision to release it on the same day as Shahrukh Khan still haunts this gem of a movie and put Shirish in a collisions course with Srk fans, a rollercoaster ride that still has no end (not helped by the so called Slapgate of earlier this year)

But the most vocal director and snarky director on twitter is back with his second release Joker, which
