This cartoon is from Paramount Studios after the departure of the Fleischer Brothers. In general, this was a rather bland period for these cartoons and the departure of the brothers was, in hindsight, a mistake. This is not only because the stories became more dull but because the wonderful old animation from the 1930s was replaced with simpler, though more colorful, animation.
The story is a very simple cat versus mice cartoon. It begins with a hep cat making jazz music when he's interrupted by the mice who love classical and they try to drown him out. Not surprisingly, he responded by trying to kill them and this went back and forth until the end. Not especially inspired or interesting though the music was nice.
