Unlike many people who apparently don't like the Children of the Corn
sequels, I happen to believe this is the best one of the series, I simply
love this film, I think it is a great Slasher flick, not scary, just lots
of
fun, the cast was atractive,it was well acted, it has several familiar
faces
and there was MORE blood and special effects THAN in a lot of recent
mainstream movies.

"Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror" is the fifth in the series,
and actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. Now I'm not
saying it's great, but it wasn't a complete waste either. This film is
about a group of teenage friends who happen to be driving through a
small midwestern town that is home to more of the evil child cult. When
they crash their car, however, and have a creepy encounter with the
children who emerge from a cornfield, they decide to try and get help
somewhere. They end up finding an abandoned farmhouse that is currently
for sale, and decide it is perfectly okay to shack up there and raid
the cupboards where the only find some Maracchino cherries. Of course,
the house is right at the edge of a cornfield, where the evil kids are
lurking. From there on, the friends begin to drop like flies, all
meeting grisly fates from the children.
This was alright, I was expecting something much worse (I usually
expect the worst from films like this). The story wasn't really
original, but none of these sequels are so that doesn't really matter.
The friends decide they're going to try and help the children, which is
rather ridiculous. The acting was a surprise, it was actually decent.
The only cast member I recognized was Eva Mendes from "Urban legends:
Final Cut", the rest are pretty much unknowns. We had some good cameo
appearance by David Carradine, an evil supporter of the cult, and Kane
Hodder (who played Jason in some of the "Friday the 13th" films) in a
minor role of a local bartender. I really didn't the movie was that bad
though.
Overall, this isn't as good as "Part IV: The Gathering" was (in my
opinion at least) but it was an alright follow up. Don't take it so
seriously, you might enjoy it. Of course it's campy, but in a good way.
5/10.

"Children of the Corn 5:Fields of Terror" is actually better than the
following entry "Children of the Corn 666".The acting is pretty good and
the
cameos by Fred Williamson,David Carradine and Kane Hodder are nice to
see.The pacing is decent and there's a bit of gore.So if you like
slasher/splatter movies give this one a look-I still think that Fritz
Kiersch's "Children of the Corn" is the best of the series! My rating:6

This series has become a genre in itself, and therefore, people will like it
or hate it.
Personally, seeing the original COTC when I was growing up, it was not a
great movie,
but it had originality back in the era of Jason, Michael and
Freddy.
It also tapped into childhood car trips into the country, with all the
country
sounds and smells, and of course, the claustrophobia of endless open spaces
(which
this movie breaks with to it's detriment, with it's mountain background),
with
rows and rows of corn, just too high to see over. This what the concept
_does_ have
going for it.
Now, it's just another vehicle for unknown actors to cut their teeth on,
instead of
daytime soap. Eva Mendez stands out, though, and her portrayal of Kir is
both
sensitive and fragile, while she is gorgeous to look at. She is being set
up, though,
and her killing herself over a boyfriend makes no sense
whatsoever.
Because of the stale concept, there is very little suspense just there, and
the
director doesn't add any, either. You _know_ there is a cornfield possessed
by
a demon and a horde of "telepathic" children doing most of the killing for
him.
This being based on the 80's slasher concept, you also know that
most
of the protagonists are going to die. And they do. There's no suspense in
that.
Also, little Adam Wylie needs a lot more acting lessons.
What this series needs is more titanic battles, more ambivalent
leads,
more esoteric lore and simply more imagination on the part of the writers
(plural).
And a bigger budget too (which the original didn't have
either).
With the X-Files series running for 5 years now, I think there has been
an
over-exposure of horror, and what could shock in a movie a
decade
ago, now is something you're likely to see for free on week night
television.

This one is the best so far, by far, it actually holds your interest unlike
the other films with the exception of part III that holds your interest all
the way up to the lamest ending of all times. Part V stays with it's
farmlike and ccountrylike setting and is yet another story of a child who
teaches about "He who walks behind the rows" (not rose for some of you
calling it that) and he brings a bunch of kids ranging from 12-18 to serve
"He who walks behind the rows" by killing the adults and anyone who will not
join or threatens them, etc. There are 4 characters that we concentrate on
all the way 'til the end of the movie which has the best ending in the
series with more excitment muck like "Children Of The Corn II: The Final
Sacrifice" 's ending. I won't spoil it for you but for once all this phsyco
kids that follow him are gona get what they deserve. Part 6 in the series
comes out 10/19/99 and will have the return of Issac (part 1) and hopefully
will end the series because it is getting old, but if it's anything like
this one fell free to make some more sequels. *** stars

Dull and dull-witted entry. Nothing happens for entire stretches. The
main evil kid is played by an Alfred E. Neuman look-alike contest
winner, hence more suited to the role of the nerdy kid everyone picks
on in school than of a menacing cult leader. Alexis Arquette is in this
one, too: one of the most obvious warning signs just how bad
Hollywood's degeneration through in-breeding can get. Alexis has
shoulders that measure about 6 cm from one to the other, and they are
downward-slumped as if wanting to escape his entire being by burying
themselves in the corn-field with the rest of the cult's victims. It
would be a hard answer to the question as to who is more nerdy,
dumb-looking, in-bred and just plain ugly - Alexis or his even more
annoying brother David Arquette. The female cast isn't any better

At this point writers just decided - fu** originality. They just took
some generic slasher film plot - bunch of dumb depressed teenagers gets
stuck in the middle on nowhere, find some dead bodys, gets scared
sh**-less, wants to go home, but some dumb chick wants some score to
settle with her long lost brother who happens to live in this
lost-in-time town, so they decide to stay because none of them have a
life out there and they are depressed because of being worthless, so
they get all slaughtered in the process, except the dumb chick, who was
responsible for all of them staying in the first place - what a
rip-off! Oh, and there are some children, who worship some "that who
walks behind the clouds" (hahaha, not funny, I know, that's movies
joke, not mine), but that's not important in this movie, seriously you
could add any slasher horror flick plot here and it would have made as
much sense as this one, I enjoyed every movie in these series up to
this point, but not this one, sorry, this one isn't COTC, not by a

The corn fields of Gatlin, Nebraska have been inhabited by a powerful
being known as He Who Walks Behind the Rows for many years. Although He
is unseen, He finds numerous ways of carrying out His dirty deeds.
Tonight, He gave power to a young man, Ezekiel, who was now to bring
Him the souls and sacrifices He needed to gain His power. Not too far
away lived a farmer and his wife. The farmer knew there was something
up with the kids in the area so when he went to go see what was what,
Ezekiel held him up in the sky with his power of levitation. Suddenly
lightening struck the poor farmer dead. Then a group of children
carrying pitchforks, scythes and axes all closed in on the farmer's
wife...CHOP! Some days later, six friends were heading into rural
Gatlin for a get together. Laszlo and Charlotte lead the way. Laszlo
would tape some rubber women to sign posts to make sure their friends
would find the way. Greg, Alison, Tyrus and Kir weren't too far behind.
At one point when Laszlo stopped to tape a rubber woman to a gas pump,
Charlotte wandered into the corn fields to pick some corn. Suddenly she
ran into a very angry youth named Jared, and he was holding a scythe!
He hacked her up and killed her. When Laszlo came looking for her, a
bunch of children ganged up on him and got him as well. Well, back in
the other car, they were beginning to feel lost when all of a sudden,
one of Laszlo's deflated dolls flew at the car. Greg couldn't see where
he was going and drove right into a ditch.
Ezekiel meets them at that moment and points them in the direction of
town. So after a drink at the bar, they learn the only tow truck in
town was broken, so they try to catch the bus out of town-- and miss
it. Greg, Alison, Tyrus and Kir trudge back to the car to find it
engulfed in flames. Luckily they find an abandoned house to stay the
night in. It had once belonged to the farmer and his wife who were
killed earlier on. The house came with all the accommodations: well
made beds, rats, and a can of Smeat; Alison did not have a good feeling
about being here because back at the bar, she heard someone mention He
Who Walks Behind the Rows which reminded her of her brother who had run
away from home 4 years ago to join Him. Later, when Greg and Alison
check out the fields, they find a strange piece of farm equipment, with
Laszlo and Charlotte's mangled bodies in it! The next day, the sheriff
collected the bodies and while he suspected the whole thing was an
accident that was the result of drinking, so he told the four to be on
the next bus out of town, then left. But Alison would not leave until
she sees her brother again. So they seek out Ezekiel who takes them to
see the proprietor of the plantation: Luke Enright.
So while Kir meets a friendly youth in Ezekiel's gang, Zane, and Greg
and Tyrus look around, Alison meets Luke who was a real isolated
looney. She then meets her brother, Jacob, who wasn't too happy to see
her at first. He was nervous because it was soon to be his 18th
birthday, the age of sin; Later on, his birthday celebration commenced
early. Ezekiel told Jacob to climb the large corn silo and jump into
the flames, offering himself to He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Jacob
refused because, well, he was scared, and plus he was soon to be a
father. Luke had chosen Lilly to be his mate and she bore his child. So
Jacob chickened out and was severely punished for it; Tyrus demanded
they leave now. Alison couldn't, so Greg and Kir left her alone and
followed Tyrus. But they soon find they couldn't leave so they return
to the house to find Alison gone. See, the sheriff had come back...Back
in the corn fields, Kir offers herself to Ezekiel who tells her to
climb the corn silo and offer herself to Him. So she does. She leaps
right into the roaring flames below...She's dead; The sheriff gets a
warrant to search Luke's place and it was then they learn Luke was not
normal. They learn that when his head splits open and evil demons fly
out, which incinerated the sheriff in the process. Alison soon reunites
with Greg and Tyrus. Alison also sees Jacob, dying. He tells her how to
defeat Ezekiel, then dies. Greg and Tyrus soon find Charlotte's car,
but it doesn't work. Soon, Zane, who was once a sweet boy, turned real
bad, attacked Tyrus brutally, then went after Alison, but she managed
to knock him right onto a bed of spikes. Jared and another girl tried
to get Greg under the car, but he took a blow torch to the fuel line
and... KABOOM! Alison was alone now. She climbed the corn silo with a
bunch of fertilizer sacks. Ezekiel tried to complicate things, but she
managed to overthrow him...Right into the flames. She tossed the
fertilizer in then and in a large eruption, the eternal flames had gone
out. The remaining children were now frightened and didn't know what to
do, so Alison lead them out of the corn fields. Soon Lilly gave birth
to her and Jacob's baby. Alison was a proud aunt.
Well Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror wasn't quite as good as
the first four. I like Part II the best, and then I like III and IV. I
do like Part I. Part V was OKAY. Not great, but okay. Good
performances. I believe David Carradine is related to John Carradine
from The Grapes of Wrath. It shows acting runs in the family. Adam
Wylie who is normally known for playing cute little kids, plays the
vile and ruthless Ezekiel. Alexis Arquette ads comic relief as Greg.
Eva Mendes is Kir. BABE! Stacy Galina is Alison. Ahmet Zappa is Laszlo,
Angela Jones is Charlotte. HOTTIE! This movie was followed by Children
of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return which was terrible!! It goes into the
Worst Horror Movies Ever Made hall of fame with Jason X, Jaws 3, Scream
2 & 3, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. And believe it or not,
there was a Children of the Corn 7. It was released in 2001 and was
called: Children of the Corn: Revelation. I haven't seen it but I will
assume it isn't very good. I believe the series is finally finished,
unless the script to Children of the Corn 8 is being written as we
speak; Although Children of the Corn V acts as if Parts I-IV never
happened, it's still an okay horror movie. Watch it this Halloween or
something. I recommend it to horror fans only!

I am reading comments of other people, how cool it was, good plots, good
scenes and I am saying to myself - these folks must be pure horror movies
lovers. Otherwise, without being "addictive", they would have to realize
that COTH5 was incredible waste of time. The movie was naive, everything
was
predictable, but the worst...the worst was the main plot: "fight the fire
with the fire". So the chick throws gasoline in the silo and the evil is
destroyed. I would rate 1/10 (that 1 goes to Eva Mendes, she is really
sweet
girl :)).

It goes into the Worst Horror Movies Ever Made hall of fame with Jason X, Jaws 3, Scream 2 & 3, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. And believe it or not, there was a Children of the Corn 7. It was released in 2001 and was called: Children of the Corn: Revelation. I haven't seen it but I will assume it isn't very good. I believe the series is finally finished, unless the script to Children of the Corn 8 is being written as we speak; Although Children of the Corn V acts as if Parts I-IV never happened, it's still an okay horror movie. Watch it this Halloween or something. I recommend it to horror fans only!

routine sequel that's full of your usual cliches lots of logic in lapses but this was a watchable time with TONS of annoying characters that you wanted to see die right away and this is also quite muddled and weakly written but this does have lots of gore and a decent ending the acting is not that good at all Stacy Galina is one of the few good ones in here she gives a credible performance and i cared for her character where is she now? Alexis Arquette is so annoying i just wanted him to die in the most painful way i loved him in Sometimes they come back again but here was horrid Eva Mendes is gorgeous but her character is very thin she sure is a looker though! David Carradine was great here and he stole the show whenever he was on screen Kane Hodder makes a cameo as a bartender that kid was creepy! overall a barely average sequel that was watchable it was just ordinary ** out of

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS !!! I am reading comments of other people, how cool it was, good plots, good scenes and I am saying to myself - these folks must be pure horror movies lovers. Otherwise, without being "addictive", they would have to realize that COTH5 was incredible waste of time. The movie was naive, everything was predictable, but the worst...the worst was the main plot: "fight the fire with the fire". So the chick throws gasoline in the silo and the evil is destroyed. I would rate 1/10 (that 1 goes to Eva Mendes, she is really sweet girl :)).
