Nominations unveiled for Rose d'Or

The nominees for the 2010 Rose d'Or TV show competition were unveiled Thursday at simultaneous events in London and Lucerne, Switzerland.

An international jury panel selected 110 shows from 515 entries submitted, an all-time record in the festival's 50-year history. Oddly, the U.S. contestants numbered only three -- NBC's "Parenthood," Wnet's "Dance in America" and Telemundo's "Missing" -- while the British field, typically, was the largest, numbering 48.

The winners will be decided during the 50th Rose d'Or fest, which unspools in Lucerne from Sept. 18-22. The Rose d'Or is one of the only global awards for television entertainment.

Fest director Rolf Probala revealed details of the nominated programs to invitees at BAFTA headquarters in London and at Lucerne's Schweizerhof Hotel, where this year's fest will be based.

Generally speaking, the international breakdown of the nomineeswas fairly wide-ranging but with most countries, like the U.S., fielding ony a few entries. Germany boasted »
