Storyline

"Strange Fruit" had everything that makes a legendary rockband: Money, Fame, Success, Groupies, a Singer who died of drugs and even a divine ending, when lightning struck the stage during an open-air. Twenty years later, all band members are minding their own businesses, the idea of a band reunion is brought up by, well, public request. Tony, the former keyboard player, sets out only to find his former friends working as a roofer, a gardener and a hotel clerk. They all became rather everyday people, married or still single, they definitely are not wild and crazy anymore. But with the help of former manager Karen, who is still dreaming of Brian, the apparently deceased lead guitarist, they all, old, fat and wrinkled as they are, try to catch that spirit again. Trivia

When Strange Fruit are arriving for their first gig in Holland, a small billboard can be seen advertising the shows of "Van Dijk" and "De Dikhout", pointing at the bands "De Dijk" and "Van Dik Hout", two famous Dutch rock bands. See more »

Goofs

After the disastrous Dutch concert where Ray goes missing, the rest of the group drinks a beer at the bar. Hughie is drinking Grolsch, while the rest appears to be drinking Brouwers Bier. The latter is an "economy" supermarket label, and extremely unlikely to be served in normal Dutch establishments. See more »

Very Funny, BUT sadly, very truthful
4 March 2006 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I'm 60 years old, a guitarist, (lead/rhythm), and over the last forty years, I've been in four bands, it's all there, the fights, the foul-ups, the rotten food, the worse accommodation, always travelling, little or no money, and every one was drunk or high. But, the clubs, the fans, and the music, made it all worth it! Just like Strange Fruit! I'm too damn old for it now, and the arthritis in the hands and hips mean no more rocking, but for the length of that video, it all came back, and it was all there! The birds, the brawls, and the booze! And I was young again! It's just like Billy Connolly's voice over, God likes that 70's stuff! Rock On Forever!
