I am not terribly fond of the cartoons of Sid Marcus, who produced decent, house style cartoons for whatever organization he worked for. However, at this point, the Columbia cartoons unit was under the supervision of Frank Tashlin and Marcus produced this very much in the Termite Terrace style -- although it strikes me as closer to Tex Avery when he was doing blackout style cartoons than to Tashlin. The Wolf is voiced by the inimitable Billy Bletcher, while Little Red Riding Hood -- drawn in the most obnoxious, cutesy-wootsy style, is voiced by the aggravating Sara Berner, who also voiced Chuck Jones' worst creation, Sniffles the Mouse, about this time.
The gag construction fills out this short impeccably, although given the Schlesinger provenance of much of the talent, a lot of MGM stars are evoked: Gable, the Marx Brothers and Robert Taylor appear on masks. The patriotic ending was a common final gag in a lot of cartoons with an adult edge in this period -- at least until Avery turned out RED HOT Cinderella.
