The films cinematography and production design give the film the illusion that it was taking place in Detroit, Miami and Chicago and not Los Angeles where it was filmed for budgetary reasons.
The turntable in Mackin's apartment is a Technics SL-1200MKII. The Technics logo on the shell is clearly covered with a black marker though, probably due to the lack of endorsement kickback.
The films opening titles feature retro LP styled jazz covers that feature a record label on each called "TAT" which is an abbreviation of the title of the film "Thick As Thieves".
The film features two former Saturday Night Live cast members who are Janeane Garafalo and Julia Sweeney, who were on the show when Alec Baldwin was a guest host. Baldwin has been featured as a guest more than any other actor in the history of the show.
