Shades Of Uncle Tom
boblipton21 April 2022
Two mice are sold to Simon Legree. With the help of a friendly mule, they try to escape.

There's a hint of SHOWBOAT as well as UNCLE TOM'S CABIN in this late Aesop's Fables cartoon; there's even a suggestion of Gertie the Dinosaur in the way they use a brontosaurus as a crane winch. The gags are pretty good and the print, although showing signs of vinegar syndrome in the first few frames, settled down quickly. The simple designs of this particular cartoon factory means that the copies that survive look as good as new.
