Sports reporter Jack Rose (John C. McGinley) misspells two words while typing up his piece after quarterback Willie Beamen scores a rushing touchdown by flipping over two defenders. The Word document says "Beamen is a lethal combination of mobolity and escapablity. A decisive passer who can deliver from the pocket. And a young man with the arrogance to lead and the hipness to give a damn." As a parody of the real life Jim Rome reporter, who was known to be over the top, it is possible this character typing misspelling was intentional and meant to mock the know-it-all sports reporters.
Early in the movie when a close-up of the Shark's schedule is shown, among the teams listed are the San Francisco Knights and the Texas Rattlesnakes. Later, the Sharks play a team called the Dallas Knights in the playoffs.
In the beginning of the film, right after Cap Rooney (Dennis Quaid) is hurt, the commentator calling the football game refers to Cap Rooney's age as 38. Once he is helped up and carried off the field the same commentator refers to his age again, but this time says he is 39.
During Beamen's first game, after the first touchdown but before the extra point, the TV score shows the Sharks already have 7 points instead of 6. Then players on the field talk about getting the extra point.
In the last regular season game, the Sharks had just scored their second touchdown, yet the scoreboard showed the score as 21-7. The next shot was of the TV scoreboard superimposed on the screen with the correct score of 21-14.
In the last game, Julian Washington #33 approaches the referee from the right side without his helmet, but in the next shot he's coming from the left side with his helmet on. The helmet appears and disappears in the subsequent shots.
When Willie is talking to his mother on the phone after his first game and they show a reply of him throwing up on TV - it shows the score as 21-17 Miami. However, when Beamen enters the game, the opponent had already scored it's defensive touchdown to make it 24-21.
In the final game when Cap runs for a touchdown and gets up dazed, the television shots showing him slowly exiting the field shows that the sharks have already made the extra point, even though Cap has not yet made it off the field so it would not yet have been possible to kick the extra point.
When Cap Rooney is knocked out of the game, he is sacked around the 25 yard line, as evidenced by multiple shots of him lying on the turf in the middle of the shark logo at the 20 yard line. When his first replacement runs out on the field, the ball is at the 41 yard line, near the Shark-Fin-S logo at midfield. Then, in the very next field shot, before a play is run, the ball is correctly placed at the 30.
