Why is this mini-series not out on video or DVD?
I haven't seen it since it was originally broadcast in 1977, but I remember it fondly as one of the best westerns I've ever seen.
The writers probably deserve most of the credit for this near masterpiece, but actor James Arness gets plenty of kudos as well.
I can't forget the scene where Arness' character shoots his old friend from long range so the Indians can't torture him anymore. Just before he fires, he shouts his friend's name, "Cully!" I get a little choked up just writing about it.
Put this mini-series on DVD, Mr. studio chief. If the IMDb rating of 8.7 is any indication, a lot of other people agree with me about this mini-series' quality.
