‘Boyhood’ Stars Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke to Receive Award at Santa Barbara Film Fest

Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke have been honored with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s 2015 American Riviera Award, marking the first time the distinction has been awarded to two honorees. The tribute will take place on Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Arlington Theatre.

“To honor Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke with the American Riviera Award is an immense privilege for Sbiff,” said Sbiff Executive Director Roger Durling. “Both have careers filled with significant achievements both on and off camera including their roles in Richard Linklater’s ‘Boyhood’ — which features some of the most unique performances of the year in a project they worked on for over a dozen years — and proves that they’re artists that continue to evolve and inspire us.”

'Sinister' Duo Set to Adapt 'The Outer Limits' for MGM

It seems the only time I can find that I wrote about a possible big-screen adaptation of The Outer Limits was way back in 2004 when Rupert Wainwright (Stigmata) was attached to direct. Unless I'm missing something I haven't covered it before or since, but today THR brings word the newly crowned director of Marvel's Dr. Strange, Scott Derrickson, has been tapped to write a screenplay for the long gestating feature alongside his Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill. "The Outer Limits" was a sci-fi television program that first aired back in the mid-60s and was then remade and aired on Showtime from 1995 to 2002. Here's how the THR story describes the plot: The duo will be tackling time travel, alien invasion and genetic manipulation in adapting the episode, which focused on a man with no memory beyond the last 10 days and a computerized hand who discovers he is from the future. »
