Angels are what we believe
nabil-kokash22 September 2022
Megan portrait a non-believer in herself, in her work and most of all reliance on others rather than discover herself in what she achieve. It took another disbeliever (Jamez woolvett) that fate brought together, to show each other that life is not an easy path.

To enjoy this movie you need to go deeper in the characters, the story and the message behind the movie. Megan had the spark to fire up what was lost or forgotten. James Gallanders new what he had and didn't want to lose it.

This is a great film, a self exploration with some comedy thrown in. It makes you think how far can we go if we really tried and pushed our self to do the least expected. NK.

Acting that would work as a play, but not on film
dionysusdm18 May 2003
I always have a hard time enjoying a movie that feels more like a play that has been filmed, rather than a SCREENplay that has been filmed. The actors speak and move as if they have to project their words and movements to people in the back of a theatre. This works beautifully IN a theatre ON a stage, but comes across as overacted and melodramatic in a movie.

Thus is the acting in "Reluctant Angel." I watched it because I am a fan of Megan Follows, so I am "reluctant" to say I was disappointed, particularly in her acting. But it wasn't just her; all three main characters were too overblown to seem real, the dialogue wasn't realistic, and the camera work was overly dramatic (including swirling around a room while the characters walk in a circle). These elements caused me to be too aware that I was watching a MOVIE instead of watching a story unfold.

All of this left me unsatisfied when the movie ended. If the elements that I have listed above bother you when you watch a movie, then "Reluctant Angel" is not for you.

One of the worst "action" films I've ever seen
IntrepidDreamer7 December 2011
The storyline could have been OK had the dialogues been written better. Unfortunately, that alone would not have saved the film, since in order to enjoy the viewing experience, one must care about the characters, and that was not the case here, since none of the major characters were engaging enough on their own, and had absolutely no chemistry between them.

Megan Follows's acting range is very narrow and her face (with the exception of her 'famous smile') is virtually expressionless. She does not seem to have evolved at all since her stardom on Ann of Green Gables. James Gallanders' appeared to think he was on a theatre stage and heroically overacted throughout most of his scenes while sounding as though he was reading his script for the first time. James Woolvett's performance, though at best mediocre, was at least believable in several scenes. I am just glad I was multitasking, and didn't waste my time really focusing on this highly forgettable 'romantic/action' film

An uplifting story made for TV
popcorn129 August 2005
This is such an uplifting story ... makes you wonder about this crazy world we live in , how we need to be in constant search of love and salvation . Sometimes , circumstances turn out to show us a truth that is different from reality and then things can become rather complicated .

The producer uses a different aspect of camera work to show the dramatic side of the story .

I am a fan of Megan Follows and I think this film may be different from all of her other work , but I truly enjoyed watching it .

Jaimz Woolvett was also exceptional in his role .

Overall, this is a film I would recommend that you watch when it's scheduled on television.
