Poor sex feature, just crosses the line into hardcore
24 May 2010 | by (New York, New York) – See all my reviews

This unsuccessful filler from director Bobby Davis has only one claim to fame - it contains just one second (!) of hardcore footage to push it over the line into Adult cinema. Other than that, it is a difficult endurance test for even the most motivated obscuro fan.

Doing a complete about-face from his color/double entendre dialog earlier film Country Girl, Davis goes silent with this MOS black & white, heavily narrated confessional by prostitute Constance, who entertains clients at home. They are a motley crew: a governor's wife, a lame old john and most notably (and hard to take or believe) a fatso lady who pays Constance to hump her husband, masturbating as she watches before joining in for group sex.

Film's title derives from a horrid scene where Constance teaches her younger daughter about sex. This consists of a lesson in how to suck one's own finger (!) and demonstrating various tongue movements. This is absurdly tame stuff, but disgusting on its own terms -proving that even at gutter level one not need stoop to shock effects in order to shock.

Davis had attractive actresses in Country Girl, but here his casting is insulting. Constance is downright ugly, sporting an unshaved mustache above her upper lip that Mariah Carey, questing for her next Oscar nomination campaign, could only dream about. The less said about the fat lady the better.

The bed scene with the governor's wife has her penetrating Constance with a vibrator, and in closeup this crossover into hardcore land is clearly visible, if only for just a second. There is full frontal male & female nudity, but fellatio scenes are shot in the once-prominent softcore mode of hands strategically hiding the oral penetration from the camera's prying gaze. So I guess this film is a bit more timid than Marco Bellocchio's classic Devil in the Flesh, but qualifies as hardcore nonetheless.
