Two convicts escape from prison and make their way to an isolated beach house where they hole up while one recovers from a leg wound and they repair a car. They must deal with a shapely, sexy and calculating young girl, and she must deal with them. Her name, Eva, fits her.

This is a well-done French film noir that explores passion, love, the differences between the sexes, rivalry, friendship, and feminine wiles.
French noir can be just as brutal as American noir, but it does seem to possess a certain gentility or adherence to codes that appears to spring from human nature and provides fertile ground for moral conflicts and insights into human behavior.
