Swiss Antics
This is a lively if abortive attempt to move Oswald from synchronized cartoon status, in which the broad movements matched the music, to full talkie status, in which voices are matched to mouth movement. The musical theme is "I Miss My Swiss" and all the standard Switzerland jokes are there, including William Tell hats, mountain goats, Swiss cheese and echoes. The mouths are not well done, but the gags are all performed with a bravura air that makes this cartoon very entertaining.
The audience may notice a couple of mice running around the landscape, dressed like Mickey Mouse. This was a common dig by cartoon producers at the newly prosperous Disney -- Terrytoons were frequently overrun with mice -- until Uncle Walt started suing.
