Up to Mars was quite a highly amusing, if weird, Max Fleischer Talkartoon
28 November 2009 | by (Baton Rouge, La.) – See all my reviews

Just watched this Max Fleischer Talkartoon starring Bimbo on YouTube. In this one, Bimbo is playing fireworks in an abandoned yard except for a mouse (who suspiciously looks like Mickey in one close-up scene) who laughs derisively at him. After he accidentally gets sent to Mars on a giant rocket firecracker, he encounters the following weird scenes: someone using a log to slice apart a saw, a robber giving his "stolen" goods at the point he shows his gun at someone, and another someone using a giant envelope to put a small mailbox in. Bimbo also steps into a marching regiment singing with them and threatening to bite the commanding officer when he kicks him! I know what I just described doesn't make sense but despite that, I quite enjoyed this cartoon which is just the right amount of weirdness that one expects from a Fleischer cartoon. So on that note, I highly recommend Up to Mars.
