Immediately upon viewing ISLAND OF LOVE, star Raysheena put me in mind of Hyapatia Lee, fellow Native American porn performer. Their video careers started at the same time, but Hyapatia was already a successful stripper in 1983.
She's teamed with okay looking Diane Hunter in this forgettable video, an actress who never made it, despite sharing the name of a showgirl from Earl Carroll's "Vanities" back in the Jazz Age (!).
Unpromising opening has Hunter as Terri examining travel brochures for the Bahamas and other tropical venues while sitting on the toilet. Nearby is Raysheena (as gal pal Sara), masturbating in the bathtub. Is this any way to start a porno? I'll have to ask director Jack Genero, who had been making porn films in Frisco from the early '70s, but seems fairly incompetent transitioning here to an '80s video shoot.
With consistently dull improvised dialog, the duo charter a boat and travel to the title island, which looks like Catalina. They've humped the boat captain (unappealing Steve Vette, who's about as handsome/erotic as Max Hardcore), and pair off later with Tom Byron and Don Skina. Final reel injects most unlikely cleaning lady (!) Lisa Aroo/Lake into a makeshift orgy on a bed.

As a fan of random movies & video (including porn), I'm glad this nonsense was preserved for posterity, but it ends with a mighty thud. Genero and his frequent scripter Jackson Forrest (gotta be his real moniker) bring us back to that bathroom where it turns out Hunter has dreamt up the whole thing: she never got off the can! If this baby had been a movie and shown theatrically, it would have constituted a first-class groaner at the finish with that "only a dream" payoff.
Along the way both leads are appealing and sexy, though in her brief moments Lisa upstages them in the beauty department. Raysheena could have made a career as Hyapatia's stand-in, or teamed with her in some militant porn as femme Indians on the warpath.
There are attractive settings, though the videography is unexceptional and most of the sex scenes are staged indoors. Chalk another one up in the minus column for Jack Generic, oops -spelled Genero.
