This Comet Empire series is very different from the Arrivederci movie
After so much death and destruction in Arrivederci Yamato, fans were outraged that their beloved show was ending. They demanded more Yamato, so Star Blazers series 2 was made. You may think it would be difficult to turn a 151 minute movie into a 563 minute series, but it came out awesome! Yamato gets in many more battles before reaching planet Telezart, Trelana is a MUCH bigger presence, Desslok has more fights with the Star Force, there is dissent between different factions on Earth, and we get to meet, again, for the first time, Cito/Knox and his Space Marines. Cito and Kodai/Derek Wildstar have a lot of conflict. And the Comet Empire is very resilient and always seems to have another trick up its sleeve. This series is followed by the third movie Yamato New Voyage.
