Storyline

Claire has worked for Denny for four years, and been in love with him from afar. She believes she can never have him, so she doesn't try. When his brother Regan comes to town to help sell the family vineyard, they agree on a partnership: in order to get Denny away from Margo's influence (Regan believes she is giving him bad advice), Claire will pretend to be his girlfriend, which Regan promises will make Denny unbearably jealous. Only problem is that when Regan turns Claire into the belle of the ball, he begins to fall for her himself, and it's up to Claire to convince Regan that they can have it all. This movie stunk. Actually, it was the very best Canadian-South African production about two brothers deciding what to do with the family vineyard that I have ever seen. The fact that this couldn't even be filmed in Napa Valley, California, or even in British Columbia is ridiculous. Instead they traveled all the way to South Africa and included scenes of geography that could never double for the San Francisco area. Sad. And two brothers & their vineyard as the plot to mix a love story in? Holy cow, man, you've gotta be kidding me. This may have made a steamy cheezy romance paperback but the transition to movie should never have been made involving such a lame plot. The love story was decent in some ways and in others just plain ludicrous. This girl was torn between two men. Who did she really want? Would she really have slept with one of them just to please the other? Any woman willing to do that is a slut and doesn't think too highly of herself. And why did she fall for such an arrogant bastard that the Regan character was? Perplexing. I guess in a way this story is very truthful because sad circumstances like that really happen: girls fall for morons who should never be in relationship with anyone but their dog. What a shame some women are so messed up and this story portrays that well for anyone willing to look beyond the puppydog eyes of love and romance. My grade for this slop: C- and that's kinda generous because of Joely Collins.
