- Continuity: When Darcy Sears kisses Mox with her whipped-cream-bikini, some whipped cream gets on his shirt but is not present when he pulls away.
- Continuity: Soon after the Coyotes fall behind 17-7 midway through the fourth quarter, a background shot of the scoreboard shows the game still in the third quarter and the score still 14-7.
- Crew or equipment visible: In the daytime helicopter shot, all of the film and light trucks are visible. They are parked all around the stadium and are very obvious.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In some of the game scenes Billy Bob is the Coyotes' right tackle, in others he is on the left side of the offensive line. This is possible if the team used an offensive scheme which 'flopped' the 'weak' and 'strong' sides of the line.
- Continuity: Kilmer's grip on Mox's football helmet changes from underhand to overhand and back again.
- Continuity: When Billy Bob is shooting old football trophies the first one he shoots doesn't match the one he had in his hand. The one in his hand is of a person and the one that is thrown on the ground and shot is of a football. Then a moment later the one that was just shot ends back up in Billy Bob's hand.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Moxon tells Miss Davis that he and the guys wouldn't tell anyone that she was a stripper, but in the previous game Tweeder told Mox in the huddle that he couldn't get Miss Davis' fat ass out of his head. While other people in the huddle hadn't been to the club, the comment was ambiguous enough not to tip them off.
- Continuity: When quarterback Lance Harbor is injured, his left shoulder pad switches repeatedly from inside to outside his jersey.
- Continuity: The lights on Billy Bob's roll bar change from round to square and back again at varius times during the movie.
- Continuity: During the "William Tell" demonstration, Joe Harbor is seen from the side putting the "Lone Star" beer can on his head. From the side, it is facing straight toward the camera. In the next shot of him, from the front, the same "Lone Star" can has turned nearly 90 degrees counter clockwise about the vertical access to be facing directly forward where Lance knocks it off with the football.
- Continuity: In the opening sequence a radio announcer says kickoff time for the Bingville game is 7:30, however the sign outside the school lists the game time as 7:00
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Lance gets hurt, he starts screaming and crying. His mouth doesn't move when he screams and he only grimaces most of the time.
- Continuity: During the first after-game party, when Lance and Darcy are having sex in the laundry room and Billy Bob storms in to puke, the top of Darcy's dress changes positions between shots.
- Continuity: When Tweeder pulls up in front of Mox in the stolen police car, the naked girls are absent from the car as it drives down the street, but appear as soon as the car comes to a halt.
- Miscellaneous: After they win the game where Coach Kilmer quits, they say that they won district and none of them ever played again. But if they won district then they would have to play again in the playoffs.
- Factual errors: When Billy Bob and Tweeder rush the punter and Tweeder blocks the punt, the whistle can be heard blowing immediately after the blocked punt. By Federation rules, this would be an inadvertent whistle. The ball remains live after a blocked punt.
- Continuity: In the game against Gilroy, Moxon is told to kneel on it. When the scoreboard is shown, the down and distance is 3rd and 8. That is not possible: if the quarterback kneels down, he will lose yards, not gain them.
- Continuity: During the speech before the final big game, the coach's collar switches from laying down to standing straight up.
- Factual errors: When Mox confronts Billy Bob after the lost game, Billy Bob is shooting his trophies with a shotgun. When we first see Billy Bob shoot the shotgun, there is no recoil. Every subsequent gunshot produces a visible recoil.
- Continuity: In the cookout scene, Lance switches between seats at the table. He is one seat away from Mox, the camera cuts away, then he is next to him, then one seat away again when Mox gets up to throw the football at the beer can on his dad's head.
- Factual errors: In the scene that Lance is hurt. Billy Bob falls forward before the snap making it a false start, and would have been called a dead ball. Therefore Lance never would have gotten hit on this play.
- Revealing mistakes: When the Cyotes are playing Wanesboro Broncos, visible in the background is a sign in the fence stating "Go Wildcats" which is the mascot of Elgin, Texas, where most of the movie was filmed.
- Factual errors: In the Gilroy game when Mox throws the football at the opposing team's mascot, the referee should have been ruled as an intentional grounding, pushing the ball back an extra ten yards. The referee merely rules the play as an incomplete.
