Rick And Morty season 3 delivers one of its best-written episodes ever in The Ricklantix Mixup. Spoilers ahead in our review...

3.7 The Ricklantis Mixup

My deal is that a show can get away with a lot if I’m impressed by the plotting. There have been funnier, more moving, and more devastating episodes than The Ricklantis Mixup, but this was an absolute stunner of a storyline. So, yeah, I loved it.

A bait and switch, this episode is not actually about Rick and Morty’s Atlantis adventure. They do go on one; we just don’t get to see it. Instead, we get to see “Tales from the Citadel.” At the beginning of the season, »

Toronto: Denzel Washington's 'Roman J. Israel, Esq.' Sets World Premiere

31 August 2017 7:26 AM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

Dan Gilroy’s legal thriller Roman J. Israel, Esq., starring Denzel Washington, is headed to Toronto for a world premiere, completing the lineup for the Special Presentations sidebar, organizers said Thursday.

Tiff debuted Nightcrawler three years ago and also gave a world bow to Training Day, which earned Washington a best actor Oscar. The track record encouraged the return gig in Toronto for Gilroy and Washington, with the world premiere nabbed away from Telluride.

“We always hoped to premiere at Toronto and couldn't be happier that Tiff audiences will be the first to see the film,” Gilroy said in »

Denzel Washington Thriller ‘Roman J. Israel, Esq.’ Premiering at Toronto Film Festival

31 August 2017 7:24 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Denzel Washington will travel to the Toronto International Film Festival for the world premiere of “Roman J. Israel, Esq.

The film’s inclusion in the gathering demonstrates that Sony Pictures believes it has an Oscar contender on its hands. Washington has nabbed two Oscar acting prizes for “Glory” and “Training Day.” He has seven nominations, including one for last year’s “Fences.” He could find himself back in the best actor race this year for his performance as an idealistic defense attorney. It’s also a homecoming of sorts for “Roman J. Israel, Esq.” Sony bought the rights to the film at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival when it was then entitled “Savage City.”

There are number of awards contenders hitting Toronto this year, including Joe Wright’s “The Darkest Hour,” Alexander Payne’s “Downsizing,” Angelina Jolie’s “First They Killed My Father,” and Andy Serkis’ “Breathe.”

‘Bright’ Star Noomi Rapace Says David Ayer Has Created a ‘Complete New Universe’ That Feels Like ‘Training Day’

21 August 2017 9:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

For his first post-“Suicide Squad” offering, director David Ayer is returning to some familiar stomping grounds — with a twist. The director’s wild new Netflix feature “Bright” hues close to Ayer’s earlier films about hardened cops and criminals duking it out on the mean streets of Los Angeles, with the addition of orcs, fairies, and elves. For Ayer, it seems that the key has been tapping into his creativity and the tough stuff that made films like “Training Day” and “End of Watch” work, at least that what his leading lady Noomi Rapace thinks, and she couldn’t be more excited about the fantastic (literally) doors the new film opened for her.

“It’s a complete new universe,” the actress said in a recent interview with IndieWire. “I read the script and I was like, ‘Oh my days, this is…I don’t…I’ve never seen this, »

SAG-aftra Presidential Candidate Pete Antico Blasts Union Leaders Following ‘Deadpool 2’ Stunt Death

SAG-aftra presidential candidate and veteran stuntman Pete Antico has blasted union leadership for failure to provide protection to the stunt community.

Antico issued a blistering statement to Variety on Tuesday, a day after the death of stuntwoman Joi “Sj” Harris on the set of “Deadpool 2” and a month after John Bernecker’s death on “The Walking Dead” set. Antico said both deaths are tragic.

“The stunt coordinators on those sets have vast experience tenure and are at the top of their game,” he said. “We have not received much information regarding the details of the incidents; however, I do know that the stunt community is not protected in our collective bargaining agreement and has not been for years. There are no qualifications for a stunt coordinator in our collective bargaining agreement. There never was. That is unconscionable. 'Miami Vice' Reboot Spearheaded by Vin Diesel in Works at NBC

Nearly 30 years after Miami Vice last aired on television, the series could return to the small screen thanks to a reboot spearheaded by Vin Diesel.

The Fast and the Furious franchise star and producer Chris Morgan, who penned six of the Fast & Furious films, will revive the series for NBC, which originally broadcast the Michael Mann crime drama from 1984 to 1990.

Although Diesel seems tailor-made to take on the Crockett role popularized by Don Johnson in the original series – and Colin Farrell in the 2006 big-screen adaptation – it appears that the actor »

Why Jeanne Moreau Was One of the Greatest French Actresses of All-Time

31 July 2017 11:49 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Jeanne Moreau was to French cinema as Manet’s “Olympia” was to French painting — the personification of the gait, glance, and gesture of modern life. Her darting brown eyes and enigmatic moue were the face of the French New Wave. Her candid sensuality and self-assurance, not to mention the suggestion that she was always in control, made her the epitome of the New Woman. From Orson Welles and Luis Bunuel to Joseph Losey and Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Moreau was the muse to the greatest directors of world cinema.

“She has all the qualities one expects in a woman,” quipped Francois Truffaut, director of her most beloved film, “Jules and Jim” (1962), “plus all those one expects in a man — without the inconveniences of either.”

Surprisingly, this quintessence of French femininity had an English mother, a dancer at the Folies Bergere. Her French father, a hotelier and restaurateur, upon learning that his daughter likewise had theatrical ambitions, »
