A carved-up female corpse left months rotting in a lake is reconstructed by forensic doc Oljelund and found fitting the missing wife of senor funeral undertaker Oleg Vassiljev, a Russian-born icons collector, whose home has the bullet hole left by the fatal shot. Beck's shocked team decides to work on informally after they are withdrawn from the case in favor of the secretive Swedish state security at the behest of the Foreign ministry, quickly blaming and planning to expel Russian diplomat Jurij Gulkov, a security risk due to his affair with migration-competent Swedish state secretary Rosa Andrén. Beck's team finds Vassiljev had a macabre extra income.
