Storyline

Indeed a tribute, this movie tells the story of Princess Diana's last year, from May 1996 to her fatal accident in August 1997. It focuses on her love affairs with a Pakistani heart surgeon and with Dodi Al Fayed, on her battle with the press, her charity work, and her relationship with her sons. Many scenes re-enact well-known images and moments from this year, and the movie ends on the note that Diana was about to accept Dodi's proposal of marriage when the accident occurred. A fitting tribute, and an informing time passer

STAR RATING:*****Unmissable****Very Good***Okay**You Could Go Out For A Meal Instead*Avoid At All Costs

Today is the 3rd anniversary of the untimely passing of Princess Diana, and, compared to how it was about 2 years ago, much of the mass hysteria and general hype have calmed down, though the awareness of the many great things she did is still widely acknowledged on this landmark occasion. In the marking of this,I came across this TV drama on the life and times of her on UK Living ,and it did it's job quite well.

It portrayed her as she was,an unselfconscious, completely genuine person, who received all the completely unwanted attention of the newspapers because of this.Although this only really seemed to focus on the build up to her untimely death, and did'nt really focus much into her life before this.It seems here her life moreorless began in the summer of 1996,before she'd even given birth to either of her two sons, although this may have detered the cause of what it's ultimate intention was. Also,it was quite funny seeing how the actor's who played the roles of William,Harry,Fergie,Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa looked like on screen, despite their good performances.

Certainly, all the reflections of a very TV movie shine through, but I'd rather watch this simple, unidealistic TV movie than some big hyped, over promoted hollywood disaster designed entirely for profit.***
