Single film with great historical background., 27 November 2012
Author: psagray from Spain

"Pacto de silencio" tells the story of a commander of the French army (Pierre Brice), in Algeria during the Algerian War of Independence (also called War of Algeria and the Algerian Liberation War) took place between 1954 and 1962 and was a period Wrestling National Liberation Front of Algeria (FLN) supported by the country's original inhabitants against French colonization in Algeria established since 1830.

The war took place in the form of guerrilla warfare and fighting against the French army and additional units locally called "Harki." Today in Algeria the term "Harki" is used as a synonym for traitor.

Civilians were Algerian and European white from the beginning of terrorist attacks by both the FLN as terrorist organizations armed pro- French OAS. There were several very bloody episodes like the one in El Alia. On the number of dead is talk of a figure of 33,000 French and a higher number of Algerians.

The war ended with the recognition by France, through the "Evian agreements" of the independence of Algeria on July 5, 1962. It meant the expulsion of 350,000 minorities like Jews and European settlers of French, Italian and Spanish.

The action of the film is in two parts, the first part describes the fighting and terrorist actions of the OAS to which belongs the protagonist of the film. Actual images coming out of the fighting scenes interspersed actors, impress viewers know that passage of recent history.

The French commander, was wounded in combat and his recovery is ordered by his superiors (Rafael Barden), to travel to Paris to identify FLN activists in France. During the trip, he decided to stop in San Sebastian where his wife lives (Yvonne Bastien), who believes that her husband died in Algiers.

From here begins the second part of the film, where the center of the story is the reunion of the couple, and the struggle to maintain the secrecy of the mission commander to events occurring after the meeting.

The film is interesting in San Sebastrián outdoor area, and the presence of large supporting cast as Angel de Andrés, Laly Soldevilla, Carlos Estrada, Rafael Barden, Matilde Muñoz Sampedro, Tomás Blanco .... As the performance of all of them excellent, exceeding even that performance of the two protagonists Ivonne Pierre Bastien and Pierre Brice.
