This way out!
dbdumonteil20 June 2009
This is the kind of flick which makes me like (reluctantly) the coming of the Nouvelle Vague.Even to one person like me who thinks that Godard and co are one of the worst things that happened to the French cinema, they were useful if they helped us get rid of such slapstick comedies.

"Et Par Ici La Sortie" (=this way out!) does not renew the subject of the doubles (played by the same actor) which Louis Jouvet and Fernandel, among others , played before.Very poor acting, ponderous style, interminable "funny " scenes :as soon as the heroes are together ,they are at each other's throats,in a desirable mansion with a sumptuous buffet (the tarts are very useful as weapons) or in a sailors' café to the tune of "Figaro Ci Figaro La" ,which is an insult to Mozart's memory.

Willy Rozier (not to be mistaken for Jacques Rozier) did not show his preachy side in this one but it does not make his movie exciting for all that.
