Worth repeated viewing

This review is for the UK DVD release which forms a double bill with Paris By Night (reviewed elsewhere). As with all films which start out as hardcore, the censors have cut it heavily to remove the most obvious hard stuff and used pan and scan to eliminate the rest. To supplement the short run time, use is made of repeating some of the clips. The use of very subdued music is a plus point because hearing the action in a porn film heightens the visual eroticism.

In Cliffbanger the two male leads (Jonathan Morgan and Jake Williams) do not do any mountaineering but they certainly do more than their fair share of mounting. Jake Williams has the two best scenes on the pool-side terrace. These scenes are highly erotic and prove that women do not need hugely enhanced breasts to make an impression, just a director who knows his job. The final bedroom scene with Jonathan Morgan and female (it's a pity that female characters' names are not mentioned on screen or in the credits so that we know who's who) is also erotic but there is too much use of close-ups. This film is worth looking at again and again if only for that initial pool-side scene. An award of 7 stars seems well justified.
