This mini series was one of the typical films of 4-6 parts sent by the German television during the weeks before Christmas, a nice tradition throughout the years ca. 1965-85. Most of these productions were co-productions with the French television.
I saw it as a teenager and was really fascinated by the good Jules-Verne-Story (also the book should be better known, it is a bit Verne's version of the "Count of Monte Christo" by Dumas), by the wonderful settings in the Mediterranean See (above all the city of Dubrovnik, former "Ragusa") and the really good actors! A real adventure!
