This film is about the life of the (in)famous Margaretha Geertruida Zelle, better known as Mata Hari.

David Carradine began shooting this picture in 1977 when his daughter Calista was 15. The plan was to film several sequences each year and cover the life of Mata Hara from aged 15 to 41 (at which point Mata was executed) as Calista grew older, If the final scenes were actually to be shot when she was 41, they would have been planned for 2003. However, some reports mention that the film would only follow Mata Hara up to the age of 30. See more
