'Cooties' Red-Band Clip Has a Zombie Child on the Attack

15 July 2015 8:44 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

There's a knock at the teacher's break room door. Who is it? Just a hungry zombie child looking to eat some brains! Lionsgate Premiere has unleashed the first red band clip from their new horror comedy Cooties. And it's sure to give any grade school educator the fright of their life!

From the creators of Saw and Glee, the infectious horror-comedy Cooties stars one heck of a comedy ensemble, with Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson & Alison Pill all fighting for their lives. The wickedly black thriller comes from the twisted minds of Leigh Whannell (co-creator of&#160Saw and&#160Insidious) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of Glee).&#160And as you can see in this clip, Cooties is bringing some huge unexpected laughs along with some unapologetic scares and lots of blood red gore.

When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into killer zombies, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. »

Scream: The TV Series Season 1 Episode 1 Review

4 July 2015 5:49 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Martin Carr reviews the first episode of Scream: The TV Series

Anyone remember Party of Five? Exactly the same as Dawson’s Creek but without those homely qualities of a Katie Holmes or Michelle Williams. It aired on Channel Four in the Nineties, convincing Miramax producers that casting Neve Campbell in Scream was a good idea. Providing her with a means to pay the mortgage for twenty years and three subsequent sequels.

Initially championed by Wes Craven maker of original Nightmares on Elm Street. Scream was touted as a revisionist reinvention. That most post-modern of commodities known as the tongue in cheek slasher movie. A nudge, nudge, wink, wink wake up call for an outdated genre. Written by Kevin Williamson who went on to pen The Faculty for Robert Rodriguez, Scream is still heralded as a benchmark today. Spawning numerous copycat flicks including I Know What You Did Last Summer, »

Eli Roth, Knock Knock, and his impact on horror

11 June 2015 11:15 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Eli Roth returns to the big screen with the Keanu Reeves-headlined Knock Knock. Wil looks back at his impact on horror...

It’s 13 years since Eli Roth made his debut with the grisly, inventive virus thriller Cabin Fever. And despite only directing four other full features since then — the latest of which, Knock Knock, is about to be released on June 26th — he’s made an indelible mark, a gory, bloody mark, on American horror cinema.

He’s one of that rare breed of directors, like a Scorsese or a Tarantino or a Hitchcock, that you know what they look and sound like. That aren’t just names behind a camera, but faces in other people’s movies, chat show guests, and have celebrity other halves. It doesn’t always mean that they are a great filmmaker, but it usually means that they are far more than just a person with technical skill. »

Elijah Wood Deals With Cooties In A New Trailer

20 May 2015 12:59 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Shouldn’t Elijah Wood know to stay away from schools after the events of The Faculty? Apparently that is a lesson he still needs to learn, as he’s playing a teacher dealing with a deadly elementary school outbreak in Cooties. The blend of horror and black comedy takes place in an ordinary school that is about to have an extraordinarily bad day. A foodborne virus spread by dodgy chicken nuggets is infecting the kids, turning any prepubescents into murderous rage-zombies. Soon, the adults in the facility are running for their lives, regretting that they ever went into education in the first place.Cooties looks extremely silly, but could also be fun, with a cast that also boasts Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, Jack McBrayer, Leigh Whannell, Nasim Pedrad, Ian Brennan and Jorgé Garcia. Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion called the shots from a script by Saw’s Whannell, Glee co-creator »
