Shooting on film at the late date of 1987 is all that Carlos Tobalina's "Boiling Desires" has to offer. Its generic title is misleading, as the chamber piece of porn is a static, sub-par look at a couple of quintessential '80s jail-bait porn stars, Bunny Bleu and Candie Evans, humping away for 80 minutes.
They're the only actresses in the entire film, indicative of the auteur, nearing the end of his career (and his life, punctuated by his suicide) slacking off as he continued to crank out new product.
Non-story has the pair of roommates, taking a shower together that shows off their full blonde bushes and presages some lesbo activity to come, having sexual initiation at the hands (and dicks) of boyfriends Tom Byron and Marc Wallice. That's all she wrote, plus tossing in a dumb flashback of a disinterested Ron Jeremy as Bunny's teacher giving her his own 9-inch brand of sexual tutoring.
Tobalina, directing with his usual nom de porn of Troy Benny, pads the movie with some mate swapping and then swapping back, but the sex scenes all run together as generic XXX content. Even the use of 35mm film is wasted, as the claustrophobic interior sets and flat lighting result in a visual palette of light skin tones (it would have helped immensely if a Black brother or sister were added to the cast, or perhaps a femme addicted to tanning salons at least) and very light pastel backgrounds giving the compositions a washed-out look.
Editing makes repeated use of a flash-pan effect between scenes that is annoying. Home-grown Tobalina stock footage of expensive cars parked outside the mansion location constitute "opening out" (not) the claustrophobic clunker.
