BeIN Media Group, the expanding Qatar-based broadcaster that recently acquired Miramax, is launching kiddie channel beJunior in tandem with Munich-based Studio 100 Media.
The co-branded channel will be beamed to beIN pay-tv subscribers across the Middle East and North Africa, in a significant further indication of its ambitions to become a Mena pay-tv powerhouse.
Studio 100 Media will provide the entire on-air set up of beJunior, including designs and scheduling and full content supply. The channel, which will launch on April 1, will replicate the concept of Studio 100’s “Junior” pay TV channel in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Los Angeles-based Shout! Factory has acquired North American rights to animated feature “Maya the Bee 2 – The Honey Games.”
The acquisition also covers other sequels to the 2014 hit “Maya the Bee Movie” and gives the company theatrical, video on-demand, digital, broadcast and home entertainment rights. The deal was struck with Studio 100 Media.
The TV series and the first film are based on the century-old German’s children’s novel. Popular in Europe, Australia and Asia, the self-discovery tale about a bee and her animal friends was previously sold to some 160 territories.

Under the terms, Shout! Factory has secured exclusive North American rights to sequels, including theatrical, VOD, digital, broadcast and home entertainment for cross-platform releases. Shout! Shawn Williamson’s Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures has begun production on Scorched Earth, a post-apocalyptic action project starring Gina Carano and John Hannah. Peter Howitt directs the story of a bounty hunter who learns that there might be more to life than just survival.
