Storyline

It is the year 2029: Astronaut Leo Davidson boards a pod cruiser on a Space Station for a "routine" reconnaissance mission. But an abrupt detour through a space time wormhole lands him on a strange planet where talking apes rule over the human race. With the help of a sympathetic chimpanzee activist named Ari and a small band of human rebels, Leo leads the effort to evade the advancing Gorilla Army led by General Thade and his most trusted warrior Attar. Now the race is on to reach a sacred temple within the planet's Forbidden Zone to discover the shocking secrets of mankind's past - and the key to its future. Written by Tim1370

Intelligent Summer Fun

Forget 'Pearl Harbor,' the biggest movie of the year is here!!

This is a credit to the fun of film-making. Burton keeps the viewer nailed down and anxious to see what lies ahead.

Tim Roth could very well be in award-contention for his no-holds-barred representation of a human-hater. His speech, walk, even his eye movements completely transform him into a vicious ape. Hats off to an actor of his caliber. Wahlberg is good, as well. He is the typical 'boy-next door' American whom is smart enough to not ask questions while he secretly plans his escape. Kristofferson's cameo is nearly non-existant, however. Development of the human tribes and their ways of life would be interesing to learn of, but action wins over plot thickness. Estella Warren is simply eye-candy, while Bonham Carter is the lead female with a brain to match.

The film is fast paced, and at a few moments seemed to be out of control. Not Burton's best work personally, but working with an ensemble of terrific makeup artists, photograhphers, and Elfman (with a terrific score), it is tied together nicely.
