This isn't Wilson Yip's best film, and the subject matter may be small-scale, but the actors are uniformly good and make the most out of the simply scripted but enjoyable "romance in a school" fare. The film still remains largely amusing and watchable thanks to some good understated comic moments, and Yip's way to get the most out of situations and actors. Towards the end it even manages to be somewhat touching. The performances are good to excellent all round, especially from Lamb, who looks spot-on as a high school teacher. Cathy Tsui, a dead ringer for Karena Lam, makes a decent debut as the love interest, while admirers of Anthony Wong will not be disappointed. Though the story are built around the three, it does sometimes tangent off to the lesser, quirky characters found with and around them, including a small but very effective cameo by Cheung Tat-Ming.
