Those who recall Mr. Bachchan’s outfit in the song will remember that it had light bulbs all over it. And even today when you watch it, it has that jaw-dropping effect. We’re attempting something close. While shooting, we had booked all the lights available to create a similar impact. A huge dome was erected and Urvashi sizzled like never before.“

Valentine’s Day – BollySpice Style

February – The month of Luuuuurve. The month where every film channel goes nuts showing Hindi cinema’s most romantic films…the radio channels go nuts playing the dulcet tones of Sonu Nigaam, Alka Yagnik and everyone else in-between, and their various romantic numbers and the music channels swing between the sexy videos and the romantic videos. Why? All because of Valentine’s Day. The day for which businesses get a free license to decorate their premises with pink and red hearts and cute babies in nappies pointing a little arrow at you. And why would the film industry not join in with the madness with romantic or psycho-romantic films releasing in time for the big day.

The Hindi film industry has a lot to answer for in my opinion when it comes to romance. Hindi cinematic releases always show the perfect romance. The perfect location, the perfect setting, the perfect food the perfect partner…

Box Office – Guddu Rangeela to sail through

Three new films released over the weekend gone by – Guddu Rangeela, Second Hand Husband and Bezubaan Ishq. Out of the three, Guddu Rangeela was the only film that managed collections of some sort. Though reviews for the film were not fantastic across board, like it was for Arshad Warsi-Subhash Kapoor’s last collaboration Jolly Llb, they were still the best of the lot when compared to the other releases. The film showed some escalation in numbers over the weekend and collected around 6 crore.

The film benefits from the fact that its cost is 15 crore (including P&A) and since 9.5 crore have already been recovered through sale of satellite (7.5 crore) and music (2 crore) rights, only 5.5 crore remain to be earned back through theatrical revenue. That should be a cakewalk, hence allowing the film to sail through and get into profit zone.

Second Hand Husband saw mixed reviews coming its way,

Box Office – Arshad-Amit-Aditi and Gippy-Tina-Geeta in clash of the trio

Two medium budget films clash this weekend – Guddu Rangeela and Second Hand Husband. Of course, former has more star value attached to it with Arshad Warsi leading the show. Moreover, he also returns with Subhash Kapoor after Jolly Llb, which lends further credibility to the film. While Amit Sadh (Kai Po Che), Aditi Rao Hydari (Murder 3) and Ronit Roy (2 States) are reliable actors, one waits to see how they have performed in a largely fun entertainer like this.

From the opening perspective, Guddu Rangeela should take a decent start since audience has been waiting for a new worthy film for a fortnight since Abcd 2. However, it would be growth over the weekend that would be the deciding factor as the film would need to sustain well over the weekdays too for bringing in good numbers.

The other release of the week, Second Hand Husband, has Gippy Grewal as the

Bollywood Box-Office Report Of The Week

The coming Friday will once again witness multiple releases- Anushka Sharma's Nh 10, Dharam Sankat Mein (still to be confirmed) and Adhyayan Suman's Lucknowi Ishq. While the front runner will obviously be NH10, the two week old Dum Laga Ke Haisha will again prove to be a handful for the new releases.

All the new releases of last week, Lalit Modi's Dirty Politics, Vrg Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd's Badmashiyaan- Fun Never Ends and Ganesh Acharya's Hey Bro, failed to make any headway, barring the Mallika Sherawat starrer Dp. Coming to the numbers, Dirty Politics managed 4.50-5.0 crore during the opening weekend and may just scrape through to safety. The remaining two releases, Badmashiyaan-fun Never Ends and Hey Bro, were well below the 1 crore mark and have more or less been rejected by the audience.

After a dull start Yash Raj Films' venture, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, sprung a

We could not pick just one scene from the great Dil Toh Pagal Hai starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Karishma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. However, the two that stand out for our writers are:

That moment when Madhuri and Shah Rukh are in adjoining changing rooms in a clothing store, and Madhuri hears him whistle a tune. She later hears it again and knows it was meant to be!
