The Best of George Pal

This film shows 90 minutes of his works from the 30's and 40's. Wooden puppets, moving them one frame at a time. Pal later became a sci-fi/fantasy film director/producer. His son David Pal, took in the family tradition of stop-motion animation, only this time going in Ray Harryhausen's footsteps (you can see his workin JACK THE GIANT KILLER). Gumby, Pokey, and Artie the Dinosaur host this movie, the begging was giving an homeage to those stop-motion dinosaur films (even that stop-motion student film, PREHISTORIC BEAST). At the end of the film, a lot of stop-motion characters, from films. T.V. shows, and commercials salute him by saying "Hurray for George Pal". But now I see the man turning in his grave along with Disney, Fritz Ferling, Tex Avery, Max and Dave Flechier, and Chuck Jones. Because of CGI, the wacky cartoon craze, and stuff like CELEBRITY DEATH MATCH (Remember that Mountain Dew connerical with Davey and Goliath you know that cartoon under the same name, I thought it was immitating George Pal's Puppetoons. But I was wrong). The point I'm trying to make is that those sweet La-la-land Cartoons are extinct, washed up, out of fashion, you look like a loser when you watch that kind of stuff (sorry no offense to people who grew up with that kind of stuff). If you like la-la-land stuff, then this film is for you. If you like stop-motion, and like l.l.l., then this film is for you. If you like stop-motion in general then this film is for you. If you like stop-motion, but don't enjoy this la-la-land kind of stuff, but enjoy CELEBRITY DEATH MATCH, or the works of Willis O'Brein, or Ray Harryhausen, etc, then this film is not for you!
