Atrocities of the Orient was released here in the states in 1959, and its content is rather shocking considering that. The film concerns the 1944 Japanese invasion of the Philipines featuring the rape and torture of natives by the "sadistic" Japanese. The version of the film that I viewed appeared to be pretty severely cut...the film was almost unintelligible. Cuts would eliminate dialogue or part of the next scene, so I have no clue where one would even find an uncut version of the film. Otherwise, this is an interesting anomoly piece, if nothing else. The film quality was rather bad, like I said, but the film was still fairly interesting, with the plight of the Filipino soldiers played out with cheaply fabricated war scenes. An interesting piece of film for history buffs, or those looking for a bizarre piece of film from years past.
