Lackluster First Half, Saved by the Second Half, 1 April 2007

I saw this movie because our biggest star is in this movie (Shahrukh Khan). And this was his debut. Though he has given us some lackluster performances between now and then, he gave a very promising debut. Truthfully, if he played this role today, he would be much better, but for any other actor, this was a very excellent debut. He was the star of the movie.

The first half is indeed boring. The first half deserves a four out of ten. Rishi Kapoor, known to give us many good performance, is quite lifeless in the first half. The first half drags and drags. Mohnish Behl and Amrish Puri overact so much.

The second half is much better. It gets more interesting. And Shahrukh gives a very relaxed performance. Throughout the movie, the beautiful Divya Bharti gives an amazing performance. I must add, if it weren't for her tragic death, Madhuri Dixit would probably not have been the big star she is today. Sushma Seth and Alok Nath also give good performances.

The music in the movie is quite dull. The only songs worth mentioning is Koi Na Koi Chahiye (SRK entrance song) and Aisi Deewangi. The movie is recommended for SRK fans and Divya Bharti fans. While SRK fans will see how he started his career, the late Divya Bharti fans will see how good of an actress she was. WAtch it for the both of them, it is worth it.
