The Trouble Which Comes When You Build Your Own House

Since this short is only 15 minutes long, most of the footage was also used in Jack Paar's "Variety Time" which was made in 1948. A gruff husband decides to build his own house for his family and is too cheap to use a Contractor. He uses his family members for help and they go at the project tooth and nail with all the skills of the Three Stooges. Fun if you like pratfalls, stumbles, head-banging and frustration as the well-intentioned family tries to make their dream home a reality. The star, Edgar Kennedy, master of the "slow burn" is given ample opportunity to display his comedic talent as he builds a fireplace and supervises the antics of his inept family.
