From the makers of the critical and box-office hit "Flor Contemplacion Story" comes this... part-true to life melodrama.
This movie marks the second time Joel Lamangan and Nora Aunor collaborated, after the critical and box-office success of their first outing, "The Flor Contemplacion Story" 6 months ago. And as with their first work, it was Aunor who brought life to this sometimes tepid melodrama, a story of a once-famous actress now struggling to regain her popularity but fails. With the arrival of her niece (actress-singer Donna Cruz, winner of a Best Supporting Actress award), her plans of staging a comeback suddenly come to life with her presence. In the midst of this story is a political battle between two mayoral candidates, the expose done by a courageous journalist (Michael de Mesa) who happens to be Aunor's boyfriend, and a prostitution ring run by a mayoral candidate. As expected, things go wrong and awry. Watchable in all aspects, but cannot reach the level of "Flor Contemplacion's" success. Winner of 8 awards at the 1995 Metro Manila Film Festival (including Best Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress.
