Trivia

This special is one of many that Violet and Patty are reduced to silent cameos. These two characters(among others like Shermy, Pig Pen and Frieda) were prominent in the earlier specials, such as Great Pumpkin and Charlie Brown Christmas, but were phased out with the introduction of Peppermint Patty and Marcie. Goofs

Charlie Brown is seen reading "War and Peace" on the porch outside the New Year's Eve party. Although we can hear him reading it normally, he is turning the pages in the wrong direction (going backwards). See more »

Quotes

Charlie Brown: [voiceover] Oh boy, only one more minute till Christmas vacation starts, and the teacher hasn't given us any assignments over the holidays.

All time great line
17 January 2006 | by (Buffalo) – See all my reviews

This has one of my all-time favorite lines. Sally wonders to Charlie Brown, when will her Sweet Babboo invite her to the party? Linus responds from outside, "I AM NOT YOUR SWEET BABBOO! AND I WOULDN'T INVITE YOU TO A GARAGE SALE!"

I think this also marks the only appearance ever of the Little Red Haired Girl, whom we not only see, but also find out that her name is Heather.

Poor Charlie Brown... trying to learn to dance, read War and Peace, make an appearance at at New Year's Party, and still deal with his crazy dog!
