The film has a Marvel comic book connection with some of its cast members: Gregory Smith starred opposite Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt in Everwood (2002). Emily VanCamp played Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and Captain America: Civil War (2016). Chris Pratt played Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 (2017), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Kirsten Dunst played Mary Jane Watson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, and Tommy Lee Jones starred in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).
Joe Dante originally wanted the cast of Predator (1987) to voice the Commando Elite. Arnold Schwarzenegger would voice Chip Hazard, Shane Black would voice Kip Killagin, Carl Weathers would voice Butch Meathook, Jesse Ventura would voice Brick Bazooka, Sonny Landham would voice Nick Nitro, and Bill Duke would voice Link Static.

This movie featured music by Led Zeppelin, a band notoriously strict about how their music is used in films, games, and other media.
