I last saw this show when it first aired in the UK and found it very scary and very very clever. the acting was superb and the story well written. The whole concept of refugee ghettos, so shocking in 1994 when this was made, are now commonplace as eastern europeans literally race "cannonball run" style accross Europe to get to the UK DHSS offices. As we read about the Sangette camp and all of the other holding areas this film seems so ahead of its time it is scary. There are groups charging huge amounts of money to ferry the dregs of eastern europe to the promised land, just as we see in this film. The nasty nod to "logans run" at the end of this piece feels even more sinister because of it.
