This series of TVE, consisting of seven chapters, is undoubtedly one of the best productions on the life of a bullfighter; bullfighting and the party atmosphere of bullfighting have been made. The series "Juncal" is excellent for several reasons. One, because it brings us closer to the feelings felt by people who like and love bullfighting and bullfighting. Two, because the actors playing different roles in the narrative are one better and sporting a stunning realism , starting with the magnificent Francisco Rabal ( as "Juncal" ) , Rafael Alvarez ( as " "Buffalo" " ) , Emma Penella (as "Teresa" ) or Carmen de la Maza (as "Julia Muñoz") , especially these four characters embroidered with silk and gold lace . Three, because history tells a very human and endearing, look where you look, about an old bullfighter, defeated by life, which has a lot of nerve, is a crook, a womanizer, a parasite of "Carpe Diem ", when viewed with the infirmities of old age and is by all means look for a safe, familiar, where to find shelter, comfort and genuine retirement waiting for death. And finally, because this series also features music and a "Pasodoble" that was created for it that are wonderful and have made over time in one of the most precious, ears and hummed "Pasodobles" Spanish tradition. The author to whom we owe this beautiful piece of music is the composer Enrique Pareja Bosch, and we hear the version sung during the beginning of each chapter of the series we owe the female duo "Vainica Doble " that made Carmen Santonja and Gloria Van Aerssen, great collaborating in various film Jaime de Armiñán's works .
Special mention is for Paco Rabal and Rafael Alvarez. The first performs one of the best works of his career, wide and long. "El Brujo", meanwhile, makes a gregarious work exceptional service at all times of the first star . Rarely have we seen a similar complicity and so heartfelt admiration, both running dialogues with the precision of a Swiss watch.
It has an excellent cast and performances, excellent history of roots, real sly humor in the style of Spanish, Hispanic characters very mocking and mischievous spirit. The series has style, mastery of the scenes, marking time, with ease and elegance, It is a picaresque story of a character at risk of extinction. "Juncal" is a strange figure, do not know if we like it or repel us, but we are always interested. Rabal compose, create and design a character destined to endure. It began as a little short, but something from minute one that convinced the TVE of making a mini - series and thankfully it was.
Jaime de Armiñán composed a bullfighting story strange that the party lovers revere, while those who are oblivious to it , accept it as a good exercise TV , an approach from the small screen to the arena calmly and seniority . The master would reflect the sadness of sunset and good nostalgic smile.
Also worth a mention is the excellent presentation of each chapter with pictures of the beautiful tiles of La Taberna de "Loa Gabrieles" Opened in 1907 , this tavern has been one of the most charming of Madrid thanks to the breathtaking murals ceramic work of artists Alfonso Romero and Enrique Guijo , who , coming from the Seville school, shops decorated Madrid in the first third of the twentieth century. In this place it was filmed some of the scenes of "Juncal".
