Beware the uk release and not much good anyway
3 May 2008 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I watched this one a while back and was horrified at the standard of the release. Although the mysterious budget label Vengeance Video is fantastic at putting out obscure old school kung fu treasure, 18 Shaolin Riders, or 18 Swirling Riders, or whatever its supposed to be called, its pretty brain melting stuff. The picture quality is uniformly sub par and the release seems to have been spliced together from two or three different prints, some subtitled, some dubbed and I think some with unsubtitled Chinese. This makes the already tricky plot virtually incomprehensible and the film does not even make up for this in the fighting stakes, for the first hour at any rate. The final half hour does at least have several fight scenes which are occasionally OK, and even a bit of crazy flying action. This stops the film from being totally devoid of merit, but its still very hard to take. I watched this a while back and out of all the random kung fu I've watched, this stands out as an experience that I have no wish to repeat. Only masochists and the insane need check this one out, even if its selling dirt cheap, its pretty deadly stuff.
