Trivia

Many different classes of characters in the series have similar name origins/puns. -All of Freeza's henchmen (not including the Ginyu force) are named for fruits (Oran for Orange, Appure for Apple, etc.) -The Ginyu Force are named for dairy products (Ginyu is derived from gyunyu, the Japanese word for milk; Rikuum is from kuriimu the Japanese name for cream, etc.) -Mr. Satan family is named for figures of hell (Satan needs no explanation, Videl is a rearranged spelling of Devil, etc.) -The Freeza family's names all refer to cold (Freeza for Freezer, Cooler and King Cold are self-explanatory.) -All Saiya-jin characters are named for vegetables (Yasai means vegetable in Japanese). -The Tsufuru-Jins (Tuffles in the dub) are named for the Japanese word for fruit (furutsu). Thus, with the two races on planet Vegeta, it's "the fruits versus the vegetables." See more »

Goofs

In the English dub, it is said that Planet Vegeta was destroyed three years ago, but it is later changed to twenty years ago (the latter is accurate to the Japanese original.) Interestingly, even when they did the "uncut dubbed" version on Cartoon Network, in the early Raditz episodes they still used the inaccurate "three years" quote. See more »

One word: The Best!
14 November 2008 | by (Romania) – See all my reviews

The only reason i gave it a 9 is because in some sagas like Frieza for example the graphics kind of suck and the tendency of the series to"kill time" like showing us the terrain and stuff which clearly is annoying, other than that the plot is awesome with minor holes, basically this is my favorite anime of all time since i was in the 6th grade!I remember back when i couldn't wait to catch an episode of DBZ only the sad part was that the only network that actually aired it in my country was RTL II,but i quickly got used to it,learned German :P and actually understood the series, and in comparison to the us version it was pretty good, the soundtrack was the original Japanese one and it didn't have to chsese lines like funimation does,in other words good ol RTL II saved me some trouble :D
