tMF Top 50: Best Movies of the 2000s (10-1)

2 January 2010 9:32 PM, PST | The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news »

We finally made it.  The best of the best.  Before we get to the top ten best films of the decade, take a minute to review the rest of the list:

#50-41 | #40-31 | #30-21 | #20-11

These are the films that mean the most to me. They have kept me up at night causing me to ponder endlessly about them, its characters, its themes and its mood: What was it that made feel (enter whatever emotion)? They successfully have managed to penetrate my body, settling there ever since I first viewed them and will probably be established within me for the rest of my life. I also believe they helped shape the decade in film by bringing new dimensions to historic genres. This decade alone allowed us, encouraged us and eventually forced us to view romance, relationships, corruption, greed, dreams and hope in a fashion that movie goers never perceived prior to it. »

Director's Cut: Patrick's top 10 for 2010

1 January 2010 1:34 PM, PST | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

In the days of Coming Attractions 1.0, at the end of every year I would write a list of what, at that time, were the movies that I was most looking forward to seeing in the coming 12 months. These upcoming top 10 lists reflected the excitement and interest level I had at the end of December. As I entered the new year and new trailers, images and news trickled out about the films that landed on my list, some fell down and off the chart while other new ones emerged and replaced the fallen. Keep that in mind as you read what movies I'm the most excited to see in 2010 because the promise of a movie's greatly conceived of marketing campaign can often fall short of the final product. Which ones from the following list will remain on my best of 2010 list and which movies will crash and burn on the bonfire of hype? »
