Learning About Winnie the Pooh on His National Holiday

18 January 2017 12:37 PM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

A.A. Milne’s beloved children’s creation Winnie the Pooh is celebrated every year on Jan. 18, Milne’s birthday.

The children’s icon got its start via a black bear named Winnie (apparently the former mascot of the Winnipeg regiment of the Canadian army, hence the name, according to the New York Public Library) living at the London Zoo during World War I. Milne’s coincidentally named son, Christopher Robin, visited the animal often and named his own stuffed bear after the real Winnie — and, oddly enough, a swan named Pooh.

Animated Movie Music Features Everything From Pop Hits to a Broadway Star

6 January 2017 11:00 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

New songs, covers of old songs, chart-topping singers, Broadway tunesmiths: musically speaking, this year’s crop of animated movies has a little of everything. Both “Trolls” and “Sing” feature lavishly produced covers of classic songs. “Sing” features no fewer than 65 tunes, of which just 20 are the original master recordings; the other 45 not only needed to be cleared but arranged, performed, and animated.

It was a two-year process, says executive music producer Harvey Mason Jr., a Grammy-winning songwriter and producer whose resume includes everyone from Justin Bieber to Beyonce. “It was the craziest job ever,” he says. “We did some of the songs eight or nine different times in different ways.”

Because “Sing” is about a vocal competition, the settings ranged from auditions to a singing, dancing finale. Characters include a punk-rock porcupine (Scarlett Johansson), a Sinatra-esque mouse (Seth MacFarlane), a soulful gorilla (Taron Egerton), a shy elephant (Tori Kelly), and »

Frozen's Anna and Elsa Have a Brother . . . And It's Tarzan

5 January 2017 1:55 PM, PST | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Two years ago, the team behind Frozen did an Ama on Reddit, and a comment they made blew the collective minds of Disney fans everywhere. While the theory is old, it has just resurfaced and Twitter is not Ok. Basically, the directors casually mentioned that Elsa and Anna's parents did not die on a boat and that their story is much different than what we assume when watching Frozen. Here's the full comment: This is the beginning of 1999's Tarzan, another Disney film which Frozen codirector Chris Buck (the "Chris" mentioned above) codirected. If this is true, it would mean that Elsa, Anna, and Tarzan come from the same set of parents. The reason this connection is getting brought up now is because of Buck's interview with MTV News in 2015. When asked about the conspiracy theory, Buck said this: "When you're working on a feature, you have a lot of »
