The lighthouse shown in the opening scenes is Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, just outside Portland. (The construction of that lighthouse was commissioned by George Washington.) It is the lighthouse featured on the Maine State U.S. Quarter. The story takes place on the WEST Coast, on Puget Sound in Washington State.
