Identical twins, separated at birth and each raised by one of their biological parents, discover each other for the first time at summer camp and make a plan to bring their wayward parents back together.
When two pre-teens named Hallie & Annie meet through their summer camp, their two lives are rattled when they realize that they are identical twins. With parents, British mother aka famous dress designer Elizabeth & American father, a wine maker named Nick, living in two different sides of the universe, the girls decide to make an identity swap in hopes of spending time with their other parent. The girls later choose to aware their guardians of the swap while at a hotel in NYC, which late reunites the divorced pair and sends them back into remarriage with each other.
The twins in this version are named after the daughters of director Nancy Meyers' and producer Charles Shyer, Annie Meyers-Shyer, and Hallie Meyers-Shyer, both of whom have small parts in the movie. Hallie plays a girl at camp at the beginning who asks where the Navajo bunk is, and Annie plays the towel girl at the hotel who brings Elizabeth the first aid kit. The character whom Hallie Meyers-Shyer plays, conversely, is named Lindsay, after Lindsay Lohan, the actress who plays Hallie and Annie. See more »
Near the pool, when Annie and Hallie confront their parents and Meredith, Meredith's initial reaction is quickly looking at the twins standing on either side of her. While she looks directly at one, she looks way above the other one's head. Also, in the shots where we see Meredith standing between the two girls, Annie and Hallie seem to be the same distance from camera, but the girl on the right (Hallie) appears to be several inches taller than her twin sister. This movie was pretty good. It was better than I expected. I especially loved the performance of Natasha Richardson, who is really gorgeous. Dennis Quaid was cute too. Lindsay Lohan was incredible too. My 8 year old sisters loved the original and got the new one and fell in love with it too. They are already reciting it. Rent both versions and enjoy both! They are great!
