The Town That Dreaded Sundown – The Blu Review

24 October 2013 8:51 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Have you ever wanted to see Mary Ann from ‘Gilligans Island’ covered in blood and chased through a corn field by a serial killer who wears a potato-sack as a hood and commits murders with a knife strapped to the end of a trombone? If so track The Town That Dreaded Sundown, a fact-based blend of police procedural, slasher flick, and redneck comedy from 1977. In addition to having one of the great movie titles of the ‘70s, The Town That Dreaded Sundown is a realistic, chilling, and effective thriller that Shout Factory has released on Blu-ray just ahead of its 2014 remake.

‘The Phantom Killer’(aka ‘The Moonlight Murderer’) was a real life fiend who committed a series of murders in Texarkana, a border town between Texas and Arkansas, in 1946. Like the ‘Zodiac’ killer who terrorized San Francisco 25 years later, he was never caught or identified. Stalking couples parked at lovers »

Not Surprisingly, The Oculus Rift Makes Scary Games Even Scarier

10 September 2013 2:42 PM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

By Matt Hawkins

As we've noted plenty of times already, the Oculus Rift can increase the immersive qualities of a game exponentially. Though, as it turns out, and somewhat predictably, the Vr gaming headset can also make an already scary game even scarier.

And we're not talking about games in which zombies and aliens are shoved into your face to a greater degree, we're talking about titles that have genuine creepy crawly frights. Like Dreadhalls, which the developer describes as being "inspired by the roguelike genre and games such as Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder".

Just watch what happens when something comes out of the shadow (fast forward to the 3:25 mark for those who are pressed for time):

Thankfully he didn't destroy the thing when ripping the headset off. Which is a valid concern, according to Joystiq, who advocates the idea of an auto-pause feature for horror games. »

TV on Tap: “Marie” Seeks a New Home and Another “Boy Meets World” Reunion?

3 July 2013 4:44 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Michael Ausiello reveals that Boy Meets World sequel series Girl Meets World is looking to find someone to play lead Girl‘s Riley‘s cousin. That implies we can hope to see Will Friedle appear in the sequel series.

Three down, one more to go?

Switched at Birth will see Joey Lauren Adams appear in two episodes as Nikki‘s mother. I guess that means we’re not going to see Toby break off the engagement anytime soon, as I’ve hoped.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan tells The Wrap that he’s working “full speed ahead” on the possible Saul Goodman-focused spin-off.

The Hallmark Channel has cancelled Marie Osmond‘s barely-promoted talk show Marie. Hallmark, which cancelled Martha last year, says its switching to instructional shows in the daytime. Meanwhile, Marie ‘s producers are trying to sell the show to TV stations as a syndicated series.

Brand New Edition of The Twilight Zone: Season Two Heads to DVD This Tuesday (June 4th)!!

30 May 2013 7:00 AM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

I don’t know about you fright fiends, but growing up, The Twilight Zone was a regular staple in the Smith household. I loved to sit in front of the Television and be scared, excited and downright enthralled with every episode that came on, and I can’t think of another similar-format series that has been as well written and developed as it was.

This Tuesday (June 4th), Season Two of The Twilight Zone is being released on a new “episode-only” 5-disc set from Image Entertainment. The season was previously released in a “definitive edition”, but what Image is doing, is re-releasing it for folks who can’t afford to pay the extra money for the commentary-edition, and would rather just see the 29-episodes that comprised the second season.

The Twilight Zone remains television’s most treasured anthology program. The brainchild of writer and narrator Rod Serling — inspired by the pulp comics, »

Previously on Pretty Little Liars, Mona turned into Ali and Spencer turned into Mona and Emily turned into Spencer and — well, no one on earth could turn into Emily because she is sweetness and light and everything right. There only can be one. Because that's what it says in the Prophecies of Old. Also in the Prophecies it was foretold that stalkers of little children would meet a horrific end, and so Ashley Marin went ahead and ran over Detective Wilden with her car.

Spencer is still naked from her shower and Emily is still dressed like your all-time gayest fantasy and now is the day for the Liars to know the truth about Boo Radley van Cullen. Spencer says they should wait for Hanna, probably because she doesn't want to say the thing out loud twice, but also »
